Work sucked [as usual lol] but that gloomy day turned right around when I got home:
-Save the Date photo cards came!!! THEY LOOK GREAT! And I have the magnets, envelopes & labels so I foresee crafting in my future tonight
-Paul was so sweet and thought of me when he went to the grocery store: bought a bottle of my favorite wine and COOKIES! Haha I’ve been complaining to him for awhile that I really want cookies so I was so excited to see he got some for me!

Well…at least I’m hoping it’s powerful! Help me find out :)
Last week was a really hard one. My mom was in a lot of pain so my Dad took her to the ER. Turns out she had a mild heart attack. I found myself coming to blog about this a few times, but it’s difficult for me to come up with the words. So instead of making this about me-how I feel, my worries, concerns, etc…I want to make this about helping my mom.
In all reality and scope of heart attacks, she was very lucky as it was mild and now has opened her eyes to steps she needs to take. But that’s just it, she knows things so needs to do to get healthier. But like all of us, knowing and doing are two different things. Diet, exercise and quitting smoking are all on the list. NONE of them being an easy, quick fix. I will do my best to help and support her in this journey, because lord knows I want [need] my mom around for many more moons!
If you could please keep my mom in your prayers/thoughts, we would all appreciate it! Hopefully your kind thoughts will give her the strength she needs, the strength we would all need in her situation.
And best of luck Mom—— I KNOW you can do it! And I’m here to help however I can! I love you the most!!!
About a month ago I decided to check out the wedding section at Micheal’s. A friend of mine told me she bought blank cards there for her save the dates & invitations. After some scouring, I found these great Save the Date printable magnets with envelopes! I read reviews online (yayyy smart phone) and the ones I found were all good. Being in marketing, I really wanted to design some part of our wedding & the Save the Dates were going to be the easiest. And at a price tag or $9.99 for THIRTY, I couldn’t resist!
I got home and started working on the design. Did I mention we have AMAZING engagement photos courtesy of Jill Lauren Photography??? (PS—-check her blog on our engagement session here). Because of her talent, it was very hard to select which photos to take. I ended up selecting one with the Star Chalkboard props I crafted before our photos. I weighed heavily on the lay out and photo selections. Revised several times and asked other’s input. Probably printed out 50 variations to look at. Printed another 50 figuring out how to get it to print without a stupid boarder. And FINALLY——I selected the design and put the first magnet into the printer!!!
And…..well, it sucked. I had used our colors (red, black & white) and they didn’t POP like they did on the screen. The black was especially faded. The photos surprisingly looked good despite the print quality. So I tried another….and another….and another….
And it just got worse, not better like I was hoping.
So I started brainstorming
-I could print it on regular paper & back it with a thicker paper (ughhh didn’t want to have to CUT out every Save the Date, let alone a second paper & then glue)
-I could splurge and just send it to a company (nope——WAYYYY too expensive for our budget)
-I could take the magnets I have to a professional printer (was going to be expensive but then found out they couldn’t do it anyway b/c the adhesive would melt)
CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!!!
Then, after calming down…I found a [hopefully] cute and clever way to get the same exact concept into an envelope to our loved ones. I decided to get the card printed on photo paper (which meant I had to alter the design slightly) and then add my own magnets.
The photos, envelopes, magnets & stamps have ALL been ordered. Now I’m just sitting & waiting for it all to arrive so I can assemble and ship.
Oh…..and finish the guest list still of course ;)

The Opposite of Loneliness by Yale Daily News columnist Marina Keegan for the class of 2012 commencement.

If we did have a word for that, the word for unloneliness, it would include the opposite of tragedy and loss. Never having to lose people who have words like these, who have potential. Go read the whole thing. I remember feeling this way at 22, feeling like I was leaving the incredible world I’d built and not knowing if I’d ever get it back. I didn’t, but I’ve built many more worlds since then, and I hope I keep remembering that the best days aren’t gone. I hope I keep finding worlds full of people who will laugh heartily and sit around campfires and talk and sing late into the night. I hope that sense of belonging to a tribe never leaves my life. Even if the tribe is just two or three of us. Even if it’s only the one that I create myself.

I would post about what a crazy/scary week it was…
I would post about my Save the Date headaches…
I would post about my weekend plans…
But I’m too busy trying to wrap up at work so I can get the heck outta here for an extra long weekend!!!
[Obvi unless it’s my Dad, fiance or good friend.]
I just feel belittled when men in my ‘professional’ life refer to me that way. Grrrrrrrrrrr!
Apparently Etsy figured out I was browsing for wedding goodies. They sent out an eblast FILLED with wedding stuff! I LOVE when they do the work for me!!!
See what they have here.
For awhile now I have been hearing about the Clarisonic cleansing ‘tool’. I loved the idea, massaging bristles with face wash to clean your face. But I was skeptical for a few reasons. One—-the price and Two—-I get annoyed with cleaning my face.
Last Sunday I was at Ulta and saw that they had the Clarisonic Mia for $120. This was significantly less than I remembered them being. Apparently the Mia is a new version and comes with a lower cost point. I checked them out. Walked around the store convincing myself I didn’t need it, but I quickly walked back. With the wedding coming up (188 days——WOAH) I knew I wanted my face to be in tip top shape. I still get acne, white heads and feel like my pores look like the Grand Canyon some times. I knew I would end up buying it eventually, so why not that day?
Someone at Ulta gave me a few pointers (use a non-foaming face cleanser) and I picked out my color and was on my way. While I was reading the instructions, I got even more excited. It only takes one minute….ONE MINUTE!!! And it times itself so you don’t have to count either :) I often use face wipes because I’m lazy and I can tell you I spend more than a minute trying to get all my makeup off. You still have to remove your eye makeup first.
Not only does it do a great job cleaning (their website says it gets 6x better than with your hands alone) but it FEELS great-during and after! It was like a little face massage and then after wards my skin felt sooooo soft! I try to exfoliate once a week, and just one use of the Clarisonic was better than exfoliating!
I’ve been using it for just under a week and have noticed a big difference. My skin feels great and I look FORWARD to washing my face! CRAZY!
And you only replace the heads every 3 months and they are approximately $20 each, so not bad. Go buy it…you won’t regret it!
